About The Author
India Sage is an African American, first-time author, and journalist. Born in Ghana, West Africa, she migrated to America as a refugee to a world of disparities and childhood abuse that led to early depression. At the transformational age of 8 years old, her true refuge came in the form of storytelling through poetry. Throughout her matriculation in high school, she was given a voice by her In school coordinator at Communities In Schools Delaware to share her literary talents through poetry. Humbled and appreciative of this new found value of herself and her talents, she continued to write poetry as an escape from her abuse and performed her medicinal and uplifting spoken word pieces across many stages. Audiences describe her as “more than motivational”. Post-high school India was adopted into a beautiful family and continued her work. Her experience as a poet birthed her interest in Journalism when she was in college. She enjoyed telling the extraordinary stories of everyday people and sharing her own story of overcoming mental and physical abuse, and working through depression. She has been recognized as “The Motivational Journalist” by The Power of Women Summit held at Rutgers University.
India is an alumna of Delaware State University, equipped with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Television, Radio and Film production, and trailblazing in the fields of public relations, digital media marketing, & advertising. She has worked for CBS News, Washington D.C., New York City and Philadelphia. She currently reports for the local news in Wilmington, Delaware, Comcast Channel 22, and also writes for notable sites like allhiphop.com, Afro Philly, LA Black Post, and National Black Guide.
Her success is a story of evolution. She continues to develop her talents and believes that they are vital instruments in achieving what she calls her “Best Self”. Furthermore, she shares the same objective for everyone that she becomes connected with.
She has shared her story with kids, teens, young adults and adults all over the country. India attributes her proudest moments and reasons for success to be those moments that are rooted in the mentorship of youth and her commitment to serving as a motivational force.
Her favorite quote is, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". Her Journey began with a simple step and she continues to transcend beyond her life’s disparities and
has made her mission to help each person she meets along her path to reach their fullest potential.
